In sport there are often opportunities to cross boundaries that are not easy for those affected to recognize.
To protect children and young people from abuse, you need an attentive environment, vigilant teachers, trainers and officials who look, recognize signs at an early stage and organize help.
1.
physical contact
Adolescents are touched in a way, which is not related to an immediate sport activity. Inappropriate contact happens repeatedly.
2.
One-on-one situations
Private trainings or meetings outside the usual training times happen more frequently. Trainers are often alone with the adolescents.
3.
verbal boundaries
Jokes and stories with sexual background are told to adolescents. Comments about the physical appearance of adolescents without any relation to sports are made.
4.
changed behavior
Adolescents behave in a different way and/or show disorders, in relation to proximity and distance behavior, negative or supercritical body consciousness, excessive sport activities or suddenly avoiding sport activities and/or distance to the team or the community.
5.
special attention
Single adolescents are chosen for special activities, get presents or special attention.
6.
social media
Texting or what’s app-/messenger-/facebook messages with personal content, without any direct sport relation, are sent to one adolescent in particular.
7.
Bullying/ Mobbing
Adolescents are being mocked, declared outsiders or are made a fool of somebody
